Mel Trotter Ministries to host annual Christmas luncheon on Wednesday

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Mel Trotter Ministries will host its annual Christmas luncheon Wednesday.

It is open to the Heartside Neighborhood community and others in the city who are experiencing hunger and homelessness. Mel Trotter expects more than the 300 people to attend the free luncheon, which runs from noon to 2:30 p.m.

"It's been a challenging year for folks, and the holiday season can be kind of lonely," Mel Trotter CEO Chris Palusky told WOOD Radio News. "So, we want there to be a place for folks to go. And that is at Mel Trotter. So, please be our guest, come to Mel Trotter. Check it out!"

A variety of foods will be served, including cranberry salad, deviled eggs, honey baked ham, roasted chicken, scalloped potatoes, braised cabbage, and garlic and feta mashed potatoes. They will also be serving pies and cookies for dessert.

The community meal will be at Mel Trotter's location on Commerce Avenue south of Cherry Street in downtown Grand Rapids.

Here is a portion of the news release from Mel Trotter Ministries:

This event is sponsored by the DTE Foundation and is open to the Heartside community and other people in our city who are experiencing hunger and homelessness. No registration is required. Additional details can be found on the Mel Trotter website.
