Drivers on Interstate 690 eastbound in Onondaga County should prepare for lane closures later this month. The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) announced that these closures will allow crews to inspect overhead sign structures. The lane reductions will occur in the towns of Geddes and Van Buren during daytime hours.
According to CNY Central, the closures are weather-dependent and may change based on conditions. Motorists are advised to exercise caution, adhere to posted speed limits, and remain vigilant for workers and equipment in the area. The NYSDOT emphasizes that fines are doubled for speeding in work zones, and drivers with multiple speeding violations could face license suspension under New York’s Work Zone Safety Act.
The NYSDOT encourages drivers to plan for potential delays and consider alternative routes. For real-time travel updates, motorists can visit 511NY.org or use the 511NY mobile app.
