GRAND HAVEN, Mich. -- An accident in Grand Haven Township resulted in the death of a 26-year-old bicyclist on Sunday night (December 14). According to the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office, the man was riding his bike northbound on Mercury Drive near Lake Avenue when he was struck by a 2017 Chevrolet Cruze driven by a 62-year-old man from Grand Haven. The impact caused the bicyclist to be thrown off his bike and subsequently hit by a 2014 Ford Escape driven by a 44-year-old woman traveling southeast on Mercury Drive.

A third vehicle, described as a light-colored or white SUV with a female passenger estimated to be in her 50s or 60s, also hit the man and fled the scene. The driver of this vehicle remains unidentified. The bicyclist was transported to a hospital in Muskegon, where he later died from his injuries.

The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office is actively seeking information about the third vehicle involved in the incident. They urge anyone with details to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation. Both drivers who remained at the scene were unharmed.
