Des Moines Housing Market Sees Slight Slowdown in November

(Des Moines, IA) -- The Des Moines housing market is starting to see a typical winter slowdown.

Pending home sales and overall housing inventory remained strong and saw increases last month compared to November of last year. Pending home sales in November of this year saw an 8.9% increase compared to the same time in 2024. Home inventory is up 15.9% in November 2025 compared to November of last year.

Despite dropping slightly from October to November 2025, the average number of days a home spends on the market in Des Moines is up 18.8% compared to November 2024. Homes spent and average of 57 days on the market last month compared to October's 59 days.

The median home price in Des Moines held steady in November at $312,000, an increase of 7.6% to November of 2024's $290,000.
