Sleep Is Tied Strongly To Life Expectancy

Getting less than seven hours of sleep a night is a strong predictor of a shorter life expectancy. That's according to a new study published yesterday in the journal SLEEP Advances. Researchers at OSHU found that sleep was more effective in predicting a shorter life expectancy than any factor except smoking. Senior author Andrew McHill, Ph.D. said “We’ve always thought sleep is important, but this research really drives that point home: People really should strive to get seven to nine hours of sleep if at all possible.”
