UNDATED, Mich. -- Michigan drivers have been ranked as the best in the United States, according to a new report by LendingTree. The study evaluated drivers across the country based on incidents such as accidents, DUIs, speeding, and other violations. Michigan topped the list with only 20.9 incidents per 1,000 drivers, the lowest in the nation.

The state's drivers are praised for their safety, skill, and responsible driving habits. Experts attribute these results to Michigan’s strong driver education programs and strict enforcement of traffic laws. The state's diverse roadways, which include both urban streets and rural highways, provide drivers with varied experiences that enhance their skills. Additionally, Michigan's investment in road infrastructure contributes to safer driving conditions.

In contrast, North Dakota drivers were ranked as the worst, with 64 incidents per 1,000 drivers. The state has the highest rates of DUIs and speeding-related incidents. New Jersey and Utah also ranked poorly, with high numbers of driving incidents.

The report highlights the importance of safe driving practices and the role of state policies in promoting road safety. As Michigan continues to lead in driver safety, other states may look to its policies as a model for improvement.
