Fear of Missing Out, or FOMO, is being replaced by ROMO, the Relief of Missing Out. Instead of feeling anxious about not participating in events or trends, ROMO celebrates the peace and satisfaction that comes from not being involved.
The term gained traction after actor Killian Murphy jokingly coined it during the Toronto International Film Festival while discussing his absence from Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film The Odyssey. He said, “I have ROMO: Relief of Missing Out."
