Jay Weber Show transcript 9-11-25

For a second morning in a row, now, we have to start the show by talking about a horrific murder that is also a crime against society.

Charlie kirk was assassinated on a college campus yesterday, simply because he was effectively taking his conservative message of freedom, liberty, and ‘first principals’ to young people.

Kirk was- very good- at countering the left-wing argument on campus, and drawing young people over to the GOP side-

Or-at the very least- encouraging them to be independent thinkers-

And so, as Clay Travis put it: the left couldn’t win debates with him, so they killed him.

Yep. This is a political assassination- clearly carried out by a radicalized leftist. Remember. Since the democrats ‘normalized’ the idea of violence and rioting as ‘political speech’ during the Black Lives Matter riots, about 43 percent of young people on our campuses think that resorting to violence in order to ‘get your way’, politically is okay.

When we say ‘today’s left has normalized violence’ as a political tool, it isn’t hyperbole. Their actions and some of the things they have embraced on the left-including a lot of the threatening rhetoric they have embraced on the left- have made this a more dangerous country.

And no, it doesn’t cut both ways. I know the left-wing talking heads want to insist that Donald trump incited a riot on January sixth of 2021. He didn’t.

And I know that they want to claim that we influence the right used threatening and violent language. No, we don’t. That has been a bad rap and a false talking point from the left since they hung it on rush Limbaugh 40 years ago: disagreeing with democrats and the way they want to run the country- is not- dangerous speech and it is not ‘inciting violence’.

Nor is it being superior debaters with superior intellects. But it’s what got Charlie Kirk killed yesterday.

For people who don’t know a lot about Charlie Kirk, he was just 31 years old and just starting a young family. The monster who killed him leaves a wife and two young children behind.

But Kirk rose to fame by simply challenging liberal conventions on college campuses. He was young conservative with a bright mind…and he would literally set up a table on campus and invite people to come and argue politics with him.

And the great irony linked to his murder-is that -more than anyone in America today-

Honestly: more than anyone in America today- Charlie Kirk was making a good-faith effort to model civil discourse and debate in the public square. He built his brand-and an entire young conservative movement- based on the idea that- if we talk to each other across the aisle and have civil debates…both of us will be better for it. We will understand each other more clearly. And there will be less need for anger and violence.

Here’s kirk, on a college campus a few years ago, explaining why he was sitting there in the middle of the quad…at a table…and what he was trying to accomplish. A liberal student is questioning him. Why are you doing this?

If you watched a Charlie Kirk event- you would know that he was interested in open and honest dialog between the left and the right. He would answer any question put to him, and he would talk to everyone. He is willing to debate with anyone. He had a way of calming angry liberals who ‘came at him hot’. He was unflappable and never got angry.

He was so good at what he did- the activist left really started to hate him-and elevated him. By 2024, Charlie Kirk and his ‘Turning Point USA’ group had become hugely influential and were running ground operations on campuses and elsewhere. And they were very effective. He! -was very effective. Charlie kirk played a significant role in getting Donald Trump elected again in 2024.

He was too important to trump and his success. So, they killed him.

Do not believe the monstrous and twisted caricatures that the left wants to paint of this man. He did not use violent or inciteful rhetoric. He was not racist or sexist. He wasn’t ‘Hitler’s henchmen’ or some Klansmen.

He was a brilliant conservative who the left couldn’t beat in an argument. And they killed him for it.

The left wanted to claim he was the rabble rouser and the poisoned pill…. but he was killed while engaging in an open and honest debate at a college campus. Charlie kirk was violently murdered as he was answering a question about the recent string of transgender shooters.

Really.

He was engaging in the sort of ‘public square’, free speech debate that our founders so greatly valued and that successive generations have held so precious that hundreds of thousands of Americans have given their lives for it… and now…. terribly…. Charlie Kirk has, too.

He was a simple husband and father…with principals and intellect…and with the sort of kindness and compassion that we should want to see in all our children and all Americans. And today’s left killed him for it.

And before you think I’m spreading the blame too widely, and this was just one kook…Charlie Kirk, himself, recently posted:

The ghoulish celebrations on the left on X, blue sky, and Instagram are disgusting. I refuse to read them in the air or wallow them.

I have been doing this for 36 years now…and still…cannot imagine ever ‘wishing’ a democrat was dead…or celebrating over one of them dying or being assassinated.

And yet, over those 36 years, I have seen it routinely on the left. They display a genuine and guttural hatred of their fellow man…and anyone who doesn’t agree with them.

And no, it isn’t ‘about the same on both sides.

No.

And Kirk in his posting is ‘proven right’. I and others on the right are being proven right- with the assassination of this wonderful young patriot.

The increasingly vicious and nasty left-wing media and activist class …as well as top democrats who now use the nastiest of rhetoric and insist trump is a dictator and this is a fascist regime just because he’s doing what they don’t like-

Those democrats, today, have created a climate of hysteria that is radicalizing all sorts of unstable people to lash back with political violence.

And to see some of them yesterday- like Chuck Schumer and Gavin Newsom-and Adam Schiff- ugh! , then spin around and insist…oh…this kind of violence can never be tolerated… was sickening. They are the ones who have been pushing us there.

Clay Travis got it right on Fox last night:

The left says they want “national conversations.” Charlie Kirk did just that. In the lion’s den, no less, at left leaning venues, hoping facts and common sense would prevail.

And they murdered him for it.

Yep. But our response from the right -should not be- and cannot be- violence in return, though. Our response needs to be to elevate and echo Charlie’s ‘free speech’, ‘free debate’ message…and make it clear to the activist left that they will never win this way. They will never accomplish their goal of destroying America…and they will never win this way.

As someone on X put it: look at how crazy we have made the left- just by fighting back, rhetorically, on their bullying. Look at how deranged Charlie kirk has made them….by using ‘words and ‘rhetoric’ to combat them.

That is what is needed- from the right- to honor his legacy and continue his fight: don’t be silent. Don’t allow yourself to be cowed into submission. Stand up for freedom…and peaceful speech…and exercise your rights and principals by voting.

I don’t care right now about the haters on cable. I don’t care about anodyne statements from politicians about Charlie.

I only care about 3 things:

1. That his killer be caught, tried and given the ultimate punishment.

2. That we pray for his family, friends and colleagues and do everything possible to ease their pain; and

3. That we amplify Charlie’s message to the mountaintops and not retreat in spreading it even one eff-ing inch.
