The hottest new “cellphone alternative” for kids is… a landline. Sort of.

It’s called Tin Can, a Wi-Fi phone that looks like the corded handset you remember from your parents’ kitchen wall. No apps, no TikTok, no doomscrolling—just good old-fashioned voice calls. Parents program who’s allowed to ring, set call hours, and then let their kids discover the lost art of saying, “Hello, may I speak to…?”

The device was cooked up by three Seattle engineers (two of them dads) around a kitchen table, and it’s already sold tens of thousands of units. Demand is so high it’s backordered until December.

For parents, it’s part nostalgia trip, part sanity saver. For kids, it’s a way to gain independence—calling friends, arranging playdates, and practicing actual conversation—without tumbling headfirst into smartphone chaos. Full Story HERE
