The Rhode Island Department of Health is recommending the closure of swimming areas at two Newport beaches.
Officials are concerned about high levels of bacteria in the water at Spouting Rock Beach Association and Gooseberry Beach.
The health department monitors bacteria counts in bodies of water through Labor Day.
A list of all the closed beaches and safety advisories are available online at health.ri.gov.
