(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- A Nebraska man is now facing federal charges after a flight to Michigan was diverted to eastern Iowa last week.

Twenty-three year-old Mario Nikprelaj from Elkhorn was arrested after police say he tried to open an emergency exit on a flight from Omaha to Detroit on Thursday.

Witnesses say the man threatened to kill one flight attendant and got physical with passengers.

Along with charges of assault and disorderly conduct, he now faces one federal count of interference with flight crew members and attendants.
