A longtime member of the Dennis Police department quietly retired last week after more than 36-years on the job.
On Friday, Lieutenant Peter Benson headed out the door after his shift and into retirement.
The Police Department says at Benson's request, there was no fanfare or big send-off.
Benson joined the department in 1988 after serving in the U.S. Army.
The department is sending Benson best wishes for a long and happy retirement.
