Outdoor warning sirens to sound in Ottawa County on Fourth of July

OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. -- Ottawa County says its outdoor warning sirens will sound on Friday at noon as part of its regular monthly system test.

The siren system is designed to alert residents who are outdoors of immediate danger, such as severe weather or other public safety threats.

Ottawa County provided more information in a news release:

The siren system is designed to alert residents who are outdoors of immediate danger, such as severe weather or other public safety threats. Testing helps ensure the system is fully operational in case it’s ever needed in a real emergency.

So, if you hear the sirens at noon on the Fourth of July, don’t panic—just tip your hat, salute the sky, and know that even our emergency systems are feeling a little extra American this week.
