Forecasters at the National Hurricane Center have bumped up development chances for an area of low pressure in the Bay of Campeche.
The disorganized system was bringing scattered showers and storms over the Yucatan Peninsula as it drifts towards the eastern coast of Mexico.
"Additional development is possible today and Sunday as the low moves generally west-northwestward, and a tropical depression could form during this period while the system remains over the waters of the Bay of Campeche," wrote NHC senior hurricane specialist Dr. Philippe Papin in a Saturday morning tropical weather outlook. "By Monday, this system should move inland over eastern Mexico, ending its chances of development."
The next name on the 2025 Atlantic hurricane list is Barry. The season runs through the end of November.
