A tragic accident occurred on Thursday (June 19) in Fishkill, when a 63-year-old woman from LaGrangeville was struck and killed by a vehicle in the Walmart parking lot on Merritt Boulevard. The vehicle was driven by a 61-year-old woman from Holmes, New York. According to Fishkill Police Lieutenant Paul Schettino, Dutchess County 911 received multiple reports just before noon about the incident, with some callers stating that the victim was unconscious.

Upon arrival, Fishkill town police found a crowd of people attempting to assist the injured pedestrian. Emergency responders triaged the woman at the scene before transporting her by ambulance to St. Luke’s-Cornwall Montefiore Hospital in Newburgh, where she later died from her injuries.

The driver of the pick-up truck remained at the scene and is cooperating with the ongoing police investigation, which includes assistance from the New York State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit. Lieutenant Schettino provided these details to Mid-Hudson News. The investigation aims to determine the circumstances leading to the accident.
