In a historic move, the NAACP announced that President Donald Trump will not be invited to its 2025 National Convention, which will be held next month in Charlotte, North Carolina. NAACP President and CEO Derrick Johnson explained the decision in a public statement on Thursday, June 19. He reminded the public that the NAACP is a nonpartisan organization that has always welcomed leaders who respect democracy and the U.S. Constitution.
However, Johnson said that President Trump’s recent actions are a clear attack on civil rights and democratic values. “Right now, it's clear that this president is attacking both civil rights and democracy,” he said.
