Extremely hot conditions are arriving in eastern Massachusetts today.
The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Greater Boston, parts of Central and Western Mass until eight p.m. today because of expected high temperatures and humidity.
The heat index is expected to exceed 100 degrees this afternoon in the region.
People are encouraged to limit strenuous activity while outside today, and to be aware of possible heat exhaustion or heat stroke.
State officials are advising you to take advantage of air conditioning, drink plenty of fluids and avoid alcohol and coffee.
