Bob Dylan and Barbra Streisand may have taken decades to finally record together, but their duet on her upcoming album ‘The Secret of Life: Partners, Volume Two’ is a moment that’s been in the making since the early 1960s. Back then, both were just 19-year-olds in Greenwich Village, getting through the early days of their careers—without ever crossing paths. Barbra recently told The New Yorker that Dylan once sent her flowers and a handwritten note in multicolored pencil asking, “Would you sing with me?” She admitted, “I couldn’t understand it at that time.”
Now, all these years later, the two legends have finally come together on “The Very Thought of You.” “Bob loved that song,” Barbra shared. “He’s very shy, like I am. But he was wonderful to work with.” Despite his reputation for being particular, she said Dylan was open and collaborative, even standing for three hours during their session. “Everything I heard about him just went out the window,” she added.
The album is set for release on June 27th. It also features Paul McCartney, Sting, and James Taylor singing duets with Streisand.
