To pee, or not to pee, while standing up? It’s a debate that’s raged through parts of the TikTok universe, with OBGYN Emma Qureshey advising the ladies not to do it while in the shower…no matter how tempted they are. That advice, however, isn’t exclusive to women. Gerald Collins is a consultant urological surgeon at Alexandra Hospital, in England. Collins advises that, even for men, seated is the “most efficient” way to go, so to speak. When standing while peeing, guys are more at risk for “benign prostatic hyperplasia,” where the prostate gland and surrounding area expand, which can block the urethra. So, while others might look down on you and judge you, Collins says peeing while sitting is your best bet…and why are those judging you watching you pee, anyway?
