A man arrested Saturday in connection with threats against Texas politicians in Austin is reportedly identified as a resident of the Houston suburb of Katy.
Austin TV station KXAN says its sources identify the suspect as Robert Leroy Bowers, 45, of Katy, who was arrested late Saturday afternoon in the city of LaGrange, between Houston and Austin.
Bowers' car was mentioned as part of police intelligence information on who might make threats against state lawmakers, and Bowers was pulled over as part of a routine traffic stop.
He was taken to Fayette County jail, not far from LaGrange, and is charged with driving a vehicle with only one license plate, a misdemeanor, but is being held without bail, the station reports.
Another report says the the motives behind the threat were not "immediately" clear. However, there is information that Bowers is politically "far left leaning."
