The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) has announced a lane closure on Interstate 481 southbound starting today (June 16) in DeWitt. The closure will reduce traffic to one lane between Exit 2 (Jamesville Road/Jamesville) and Exit 1 (Brighton Ave/Rock Cut Road) from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, continuing through Friday (June 20). This reduction is necessary for a scheduled bridge inspection.
The NYSDOT advises that construction activities are weather-dependent, and changes may occur based on conditions. Motorists are urged to drive cautiously in the work zone, as fines are doubled for speeding. Multiple speeding violations in a work zone could lead to a driver's license suspension.
For more information and updates, drivers can visit 511ny.org or use the 511NY mobile app. The NYSDOT emphasizes the importance of slowing down and moving over for highway workers to ensure their safety.
