Nottingham High School in Syracuse has appointed former Syracuse University star and NFL player Will Hunter as its new football coach. Hunter, who played as a defensive back at Syracuse University from 1999 to 2002, takes over from Marty Clanton, who managed only six wins in four seasons with the Bulldogs. Last season, Clanton's team had a 1-8 record.

Hunter, originally from Chester, Pennsylvania, had a notable college career with 156 tackles and three interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown. After college, Hunter played in the NFL for teams including the Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants, New York Jets, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Bulldogs have not seen a winning season since 2012, and Hunter's hiring brings hope for a turnaround. According to Syracuse.com, Hunter met with some of his new players on Wednesday (June 11). The Syracuse City School District confirmed Hunter's appointment on Thursday (June 12), as reported by CNY Central.
