The former Mansfield Speedway on Crall road has a new owner.
RichlandSource.com reports, former Nascar Cup Series driver, Matt Tifft, announced on social media a few days ago that he purchased the 180 acre property from the Milliron Foundation. The exact details of the cost of transaction is not known. Grant Milliron purchased the property back in 2013.
Matt Tifft, who currently lives in Cleveland. started racing go-karts at the age of 11 in Barberton, Ohio, then graduated from Medina Highland High School.
Tifft, 28, competed in the Truck Series and XFinity Series, where he raced at Mid-Ohio, before health issues forced him to step away from driving.
His vision for the track is to bring world class entertainment to Mansfield, which he likes the location being just an hour or so from Cleveland and Columbus.
Matt Tifft hopes to start having events at the track in 2026, if not sooner, and mentioned it will take over $2 million just to make the repairs to the facility, which has not been in operation since 2019.
Tifft also wants to host community events at the track, for example, like a Christmas holiday lights show around the property, which is similar to what is done at the Charlotte Motor Speedway.
He is scheduled to join WMAN, on-air, next week to talk more about his vision for the track.
