A new poll shows Helena Moreno is the frontrunner among declared candidates in this fall's election for mayor of New Orleans.
Moreno is the City Council vice president and a former state legislator.
The poll showed Moreno with 52 percent support, Councilman Oliver Thomas at 23 percent, and retired judge Arthur Hunter at 11 percent. Another 15 percent were undecided.
The survey of 500 likely voters was conducted late last month.
A political analyst says Moreno has name recognition, strong favorability, and a large fundraising lead.
