Potential Shark Bite In North Carolina-Swimmer Gets 11 Stitches

Possible Shark Attack Injures Man In North Carolina: Authorities are investigating a possible shark attack off the coast of North Carolina. The Sunset Beach Fire Department says it received an emergency call yesterday morning about a swimmer who was bitten on the leg. Sean Barton from New Mexico was treated by rescue personnel and taken to a local hospital and given 11 stitches for the injury. Barton’s family reported they saw a shark swimming close by after the bite happened. Barton shared details with “WECT-TV” saying “Just got done riding an epic wave and then felt a shark, or something bite my leg and at that moment I was like I think I just got bit by a shark and I didn’t see anything and i just kind of turned and immediately started running, tried to get into shore as quickly as I could.” Authorities are asking beachgoers to be vigilant.
