Smithland Pet and Garden is closing all of its locations in Connecticut and Massachusetts.
Seven stores in Connecticut are impacted as are stores in Hadley, Ludlow and Agawam, Westfield and Northampton.
Officials say it was a tough decision to make - but one that had to be made.
Store closing sales began today.
