GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD-AM) - This morning will mark the start of the second week of the Christopher Schurr trial.
The former Grand Rapids police officer was charged with second-degree murder after he fatally shot Patrick Lyoya during a traffic stop and struggle three years ago.
Schurr took the stand Friday.
"I shot him," Schurr said "I believe that if I hadn’t done it at that time, I wasn't going to go home."
Lewis Kliem, an expert on police practices, policies, tactics and use of force, is expected to take the stand again this morning.
Jury deliberations could start this week.
