Jay Weber Show transcript 4-29-25
It’s not surprising that Milwaukee County Judge Hannah Dugan won’t be presiding over her own court until these federal charges against her get ironed out.
And if she’s ever officially charged with them- i don’t think they are going to be ‘ironed out’ in her favor. There’s a very good chance that the judicial career of Hannah Dugan is over and that she’s destroyed her personal and professional life here.
All because she couldn’t control her Trump derangement syndrome ‘in the moment’. It’s too bad
Listeners have been asking questions about whether she’s going to remain on the bench until her federal trial. The answer is ‘no’.
When will the trial be?
That’s an impossible question to answer, given that -first- I believe the US attorney for Milwaukee is going to have to decide whether to officially pursue charges, or whether to come up with an excuse about...well...she was in a gray area, and we don’t know if we could get a conviction. Or if it’s worth the time.
I believe that’s a possibility...but the j/s today makes it sound as if there may not be any room for that-and-eventually- this matter will go before a grand jury.
I think that there’s at least an ‘opening’ for the
US attorneys’ office to ‘decline to prosecute’.
Now-I assume there will be significant pressure from above- at Trump’s dept of justice- to at least take these charges to a grand jury and present it to them- to see if a jury trial is reasonable.
A grand jury is a bunch of people who hear the federal case against a person lying out in the most positive light possible-for the federal prosecutors. It’s not a process in which she or her attorney would have a lot of leeway to present a counterargument.
And then-if a jury says there’s reason to believe federal laws were broken here- an indictment is issued that suggests: this person has committed a crime.
But even then! Dugan and her attorney could decide that taking a plea deal would be a better idea of going to a jury trial.
And in her instance-it’ll be interesting which option she takes-if it comes to that. I’m thinking that it would matter ‘greatly’ what the plea deal was. Is the offer ‘so good’ and is she feeling ‘so guilty’ that she might as well take the deal and move on?
Or does she think she’s got a good chance at convincing jurors that she was acting in a legal ‘gray area’ that puts a lot of ‘questionable doubt’ into their heads.
Because- then she could go to trial- get an acquittal-and maybe salvage more of her legal career.
And-this is all conjecture. I’m not a lawyer or a prosecutor...and am only going from ‘what I know’ about the basic process, here.
But- as we covered yesterday: pretty much ‘everyone with a law degree’ believes that Judge Dugan committed a few federal crimes.
As in: if the charging complaint is at all accurate- she clearly violated the law.
The only question now is: what to do about it? And can she argue her way out of it with some ‘legal gray area’ defense about her ‘managing her own courtroom’.... etc.
Former AG Bill Barr...
It’s also ridiculous that every democrat who has ever said, “no one is above the law’ is still trying to defend her.
They are sounding like dopes-
And there is no bigger dope in this regard than Chuck Schumer. He’s spent the last few days running around claiming that trump and his team are trying to intimidate judges.
Well-this is coming from the guy who-really has- spent the last several years trying to intimidate judges.
You’ll remember Chuck Schumer’s moments-in which he’s blasted president trump’s supreme court picks. Smeared their credibility. And suggested ‘he was coming for them’.
But now? As he tries to defend judge Dugan-and a New Mexico judge who was literally harboring a Tren-de-Aragua gang member in his home-
Now chuck is trying to lecture us on ethics and
Decorum.
This was Schumer on MSNBC this weekend, and then from 2020...as he stood on the steps of the supreme court...after Roe v Wade was overturned.
So- the democrats can intimidate judges, but Trump can’t.
And I’m not suggesting Trump is there is-in fact-no comparison here. You just heard Chuck Schumer-genuinely and directly threaten- several supreme court justices.
Neither Trump nor his team issued any threats to these two judges. They simply ran across judges -breaking the law- and arrested them. Insisted that ‘they need to follow the law, too’.
The man’s hypocrisy knows no bounds.
We’ve just spent the last three months watching people on his side of the aisle, sprint to the court, again and again and again- judging shopping.Filing the same lawsuit over and over and over again- in courts across the country- to ensure that it lands in the hands of one of their activist liberal judges.... Who can rig things their way. Block trump’s actions.
And Chuck wants to talk about an independent and fair judiciary?
Come on. What a clown.
