OCSO says 72-year-old pedestrian struck by motorist in Wright Township

WRIGHT TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- Ottawa County Sheriff's deputies are investigating a hit-and-run in Wright Township.

Around 2:40 a.m. Friday, witnesses told them that a 72-year-old man was lying on the shoulder of eastbound I-96, at the on-ramp from Jackson Street. They believe he was walking on the shoulder of the freeway when he was hit.

Police say the motorist did not stop after the collision. The pedestrian was taken to a hospital with critical injuries by LIFE EMS.
