According to the Atlanta Voice, Ryan Coogler's Sinners has taken the number 1 spot at the box office this weekend, making $45.6 million domestically. It has surpassed the projected $35 million, overtaking Minecraft which grossed $41.3 million in its third weekend. The film has received overwhelmingly positive reviews and is also notable for its behind the scenes dealings, with the rights of the film being reverted back to Coogler in 25 years, a virtually unheard of deal with a major film studio.
