In a peculiar incident, Westchester County police successfully captured an escaped alpaca that had wandered onto the streets of Mount Kisco, New York. The alpaca, which had slipped out of a trailer near Hotel MTK on Pat Reilly Way, was found near a Land Rover dealership on Kisco Avenue.
The police department shared the unusual event on Instagram, noting that they often receive interesting 911 calls. The incident began when police received a call shortly after 10 a.m. on Thursday (April 17). Officers quickly responded and managed to round up the furry escapee, reuniting it with its owner.
While the reason for the alpaca's presence in town remains unclear, it is speculated that it might have been part of a children's birthday party, as alpacas are popular attractions at such events due to their gentle nature. Alpacas are herd animals native to the Andes Mountains in South America and are closely related to llamas. However, they are not commonly seen roaming the suburbs of New York.
The police humorously suggested that despite the alpaca's brief adventure, the party it was supposed to attend likely continued without a hitch. The incident provided a light-hearted moment for the community and highlighted the diverse nature of calls handled by local law enforcement.
