(Des Moines, IA) -- People in the Des Moines area can now safely dispose of used batteries at more than a dozen locations.
Metro Waste Authority has placed battery drop-off containers in 13 communities across the Des Moines metro. People can drop off all types of batteries into the fire-safe containers, and the discarded batteries will be safely taken to the Metro Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Facility in Bondurant.
Available locations include:
- Altoona City Hall
- Ankeny City Hall
- Bondurant City Hall
- Clive Public Safety Center
- Des Moines Public Works
- Grimes City Hall
- Johnston Public Library
- Mitchellville City Hall
- Norwalk Public Library
- Pleasant Hill Public Library
- Polk City City Hall
- Urbandale Public Library
- Windsor Heights City Hall
MWA says it plans to expand the number of drop-off locations throughout the year.
