(Dallas County, Iowa) -- Six members of law enforcement have been identified for their involvement in a fatal shooting in Dallas County.

Earlier this week, 51-year-old Vonderrick Rayford of Wisconsin was pulled over for excessive speeding on Interstate 80. During the course of the stop, the Dallas County Sheriff's Office says Rayford got out of the car and began firing on law enforcement. Officers returned fire, and Rayford was pronounced dead at the scene. The Sheriff's Office says the car Rayford was driving was stolen out of Colorado, and the weapon he used was also stolen. Rayford had an outstanding warrant for his arrest in Wisconsin. The six officers are now on administrative leave:

  • Deputy Jacob Spurrell, Dallas County Sheriff’s Office
  • Deputy Eric Grimm, Dallas County Sheriff’s Office
  • Deputy Drew Hurley, Dallas County Sheriff’s Office
  • Deputy Tyler DeFrancisco, Adair County Sheriff’s Office
  • Officer Joel Gummert, Adel Police Department
