Metallica is set to perform at the JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse on Saturday (April 19). This will be the band's first concert in Central New York in nearly 30 years. The show, featuring opening acts Pantera and Suicidal Tendencies, is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. More than 46,000 tickets have already been sold, making it the second-largest concert crowd in the Dome's history, following The Who's 1982 performance with over 47,000 attendees.

The concert is part of Metallica's M72 world tour and marks their only New York stop in 2025. The band, known for hits like "Enter Sandman" and "Master of Puppets," will perform on a stage set up in the center of the Dome, surrounded by seats and standing areas, including a "snake pit" in the middle.

The event is expected to be massive, requiring nearly 80 trucks for setup, including sound, video, lighting, and stage equipment. Syracuse University advises concertgoers to arrive early due to heavy traffic and ongoing construction. Parking is available at Skytop on SU’s South Campus, with shuttle services to the Dome.

In addition to the concert, Metallica fans can enjoy a new documentary, "Metallica Saved My Life," premiering at Destiny USA on Friday (April 18). A pop-up shop featuring exclusive merchandise will also be available at Westcott Theater.
