An investigation is ongoing following a two-alarm fire that erupted at a home on Saratoga Avenue in Waterford, New York, on Thursday (April 17). Firefighters responded to the scene shortly after 2:30 p.m. and encountered heavy smoke and flames, which were visible from as far as Cohoes. The blaze was challenging to control due to solar panels on the roof, according to WNYT.

At least one firefighter was injured while battling the fire, as reported by Times Union. The firefighter is currently recovering. The fire department remained on the scene into the afternoon, and both lanes of Saratoga Avenue near Hill and Canal streets were closed as of 5:30 p.m.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Seven people were displaced by the fire and are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.
