Two unrelated traffic crashes in Muskegon County cause serious injuries

Muskegon County, Mich. -- Police in Muskegon County are investigating a couple of serious-injury accidents.

The first one occurred around 4:30 on US-31. Muskegon Township Police say a vehicle was speeding in the northbound lanes when the one-car crash occurred before Holton Road. They say the driver and a passenger were ejected from the vehicle. Another passenger received minor injuries.

No names had been released as of press time.

The other crash occurred around 7 p.m. at the intersection of Laketon Avenue and Wood Street. Muskegon Police ask any witnesses or people with video footage of a car/pedestrian crash to come forward. They say a 55-year-old Muskegon man was hit. Police don't think alcohol was involved.

They say the 72-year-old driver from Muskegon Heights has been cooperating with their investigation.

The pedestrian underwent head surgery, and doctors are treating him for other injuries, as well.
