With plans for a 25% auto tariff on imported cars set to take effect this week, car shoppers may be focusing more on cars made in the U.S. While none fully are, as all cars source at least some parts internationally, some are more “American” than others. A report from Cars.com reveals which ones they are.
- Their annual American-Made Index is here to help by ranking the “most American” cars.
- Cars.com creates the list based on five factors: location of final assembly, percentage of U.S. parts, country of origin for available engines, country of origin for available transmissions and U.S. manufacturing workforce involved.
- So, what is the “most American” car? For the third year in a row, the Tesla Model Y tops the list.
