Some Texas Superintendents Getting Paid More Than The President

The left continues to claim that Texas public schools aren't being properly funded, but according to data from the Texas Education Agency, many public school superintendents are raking in salaries of $300,000 or more.

During the 2022-2023 school year, as many as five superintendents raked in salaries of over $400,000. To put that in context, the president of the United States is paid just $400,000 a year for his service. Unlike a school superintendent, he can be voted out by the taxpayers if he does a bad job.

Corey DeAngelis with the American Culture Project says these high salaries may be why they're so opposed to the idea of school choice. He said, "It's a big grift. They're afraid their gravy train is coming to an end. They're afraid they're going to have to actually compete for those taxpayer dollars."

He went on to call this an example of how the public school system has simply become a jobs program for administrators and their staff, rather than focusing on educating children. He said, "This is probably why Texas public schools spend about $17,000 per student per year."

According to privateschoolreview.com, that's more than the average Texas private school tuition of $11,348 per year as of 2025.

DeAngelis says most of the taxpayer money that Texans spend on public schools never makes it to the students or even to the teachers. He went on to say that this is corrupt, and taxpayers should be livid.
