Astros pitcher Lance McCullers Jr threw a scoreless inning vs the Nationals on Tuesday, in his first Spring Training action of the year.
McCullers has been rehabbing and throwing bullpens, with pitches getting up to 90 MPH. McCullers had not pitched in a big league game for the Astros since November 1, 2022 in World Series Game 3 vs the Philadelphia Phillies, in a game where he gave up seven earned runs in 4 1/3 innings of work.
McCullers has rehabbed from flexor tendon surgery, undergone in June 2023. Tuesday marked his first Spring Training start since March 14, 2021, when he tossed four scoreless innings vs. the Nationals.
In his career, he's gone 49-32 with a 3.48 ERA (278ER/718.2IP), 800 strikeouts and a .226 opponent batting average.
