An eight-year-old child is hospitalized with minor injuries after being struck by a car in Johnston.
Police say the accident happened shortly before 3:30 Monday afternoon on School Street, near Thornton Elementary School.
According to the preliminary investigation, the child was in a crosswalk when they were struck.
The driver involved in the crash remained at the scene and has been issued a traffic citation.
Police say there are no criminal charges pending.
