Anfernee Simons scored a game-high 30 points, Shaedon Sharpe finished 16 points and five rebounds, and Deni Avdija added 15 points, six rebounds, and two assists as the Portland Trail Blazers win their second-straight game 112-97 over the Washington Wizards Monday night at Moda Center in Portland, Oregon.
Alex Sarr led Washington (15-52) with 20 points and four rebounds.
Portland (30-39) did a great job of closing out quarters to push the past Washington. The Trail Blazers closed the first quarter on a 16-1 run. Duop Reath was key during that stretch with two made threes. They then used a 16-6 run to end the second and take a 10-point lead into halftime.
They took control of the game with a 20-11 run to end the third taking a 19-point lead into the fourth. The Blazers pushed their lead to 24 with a 7-2 run to open the fourth. The Wizards trailed by double-digits the entire fourth quarter.
The Trail Blazers did a good job of protecting the basketball and were aggressive with their defense. Portland was +11 in points off turnovers had 15 steals.
Up Next- The Trail Blazers host the Memphis Grizzlies Wednesday night at Moda Center. The game is scheduled to tip off at 7:00 PM.
