Nebraska Unemployment Rate Unchanged

The state labor department reports Nebraska’s preliminary unemployment rate for January is 2.9 percent, seasonally adjusted.

The rate is unchanged from the revised December 2024 rate and is up 0.3 percentage points from the January 2024 rate of 2.6 percent. 

Nebraska's rate is fifth lowest in the nation.

Nonfarm employment, a count of filled jobs, was 1,044,095 in January, down 21,615 over the month. 

Private industries with the most growth month to month were other services (up 133 jobs) and information (up 41 jobs). 

Benchmarked nonfarm employment data will be published on Mach 28th, at which time comparisons to 2024 data will be available. 

The national seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for January 2025 is 4.0 percent, down 0.1 percentage points from the December 2024 rate of 4.1 percent.

The rate is up 0.3 percentage points from the January 2024 rate of 3.7 percent.
