People taking a stroll in New Orleans over the weekend will now have a unique story to tell after Ed Sheeran surprised the crowds by playin a new song that he hasn't even released.
According to local outlet 4WWL, the English singer-songwriter serenaded fans in the Big Easy on Saturday (March 15) by carrying a portable amp and mic around the French Quarter before being joined by The Soul Rebels brass band to play his new, still unreleased, song "Azizam" live for the first time ever, per People.
"We're gonna do one song here — we're filming a bit of content — and then we're going to do a parade and walk down and play some songs, if you want to come with us," Sheeran said, adding, "I've got a new song coming in a couple weeks that no one's heard. This will be the first time it's ever been played live. We'll play it once now and then we'll walk down, play some songs that you know, and I'll play this song again."
Sheeran later shared a video of the surprise street performance on his Instagram, featuring him and the band putting their all into the song as they walked down the street surrounded by onlookers cheering the impromptu concert.
Earlier this year, the "Shape of You" singer made history with a first-of-its-kind performance after being the first musician not from Bhutan to perform in the South Asian country. He kept that energy up throughout the rest of his tour, including marking a major milestone with his tour stops in India.
