Reese Witherspoon has taught her kids many lessons over the years, but there's one piece of advice that has stuck with them.
According to People, the Legally Blonde alum unveiled the life-changing tip in a March 15 Instagram Story, zooming in on a moment she shared with her children that warmed her heart.
The actress recently went out to dinner with her two sons, Deacon Phillippe, 21, whom she shares with ex Ryan Phillippe, and Tennessee, 12, whom she shares with ex Jim Toth, and the group had a conversation about lessons Witherspoon has taught them over the years.
One of her sons brought up the Sweet Home Alabama star's lesson of always choosing weird over normal and that it's "okay to stand out and be different."
The honest response filled Witherspoon's heart "with the deepest joy that he learned that from me."
"It just meant so much to me that my kids know it's okay to be different and that it can actually end up being their superpower." This is also knowledge the standout has shared with the world, telling The Hollywood Reporter last month that she spent her entire life "worrying about being weird" when she should have just embraced her uniqueness and used it to her benefit. While it took Witherspoon decades to learn, she made sure that her children regard their uncommon attributes as little flecks of personality gold.
