An accident during the wildfires near Chandler claimed the life of a man and severely injured his son.
According to family members, the two were attempting to escape the flames at their grandmother's home when they were caught in the blaze. They had been attempting to help herd cattle, and their vehicle crashed due to heavy smoke in the area.
Allen Ferguson and his son Will were rushed to the hospital, but Allen succumbed to his injuries on Saturday morning.
Will Ferguson remains hospitalized, undergoing treatment for severe burns. Less than 24 hours after the fire, he had to have his hands amputated. The family, well-known in the Oklahoma wrestling community, has received an outpouring of support, with several local groups offering condolences and prayers.
The family and community are rallying to support them during this difficult time. Anyone wishing to help can contribute to the donation accounts set up for the Ferguson family.
The Oklahoma Kids Wrestling Association has set up a donation account at Chandler BancFirst and a GoFundMe page to help cover the mounting medical expenses. The family faces significant financial burdens due to medical bills and ongoing care needs.
