A tornado watch is now in effect for parts of southeast Louisiana through 6pm tonight as a severe weather threat continues for the area.
The National Weather Service noted in this watch that this is a "particularly dangerous situation".
"Severe thunderstorms will be capable of producing tornadoes, damaging wind, and hail. Some tornadoes could be strong (EF2+) and/or long-tracked," the NWS added.
Severe storms in the Midwest associated with the system moving through the area today are blamed for at least a dozen deaths. There were 23 reported tornadoes overnight across four states.
