Palm Beach County Commissioners are putting an end to rumors that they want to terminate the longtime County Administrator Verdenia Baker.
She recently announced her retirement, effective at the end of May, but ahead of yesterday's Commission meeting, local NAACP President Albert Fields referenced the rumors.
During the meeting, several commissioners denied the rumors.
Bobby Powell:
"There's been no conversation with regard to termination of Administrator Baker."
Gregg Weiss:
"That would not have been something I would have ever supported."
Maria Sachs:
"I will find out who started that because that is a sign of disrespect!"
The Commission did not discuss next steps in finding a replacement for Baker.
