Massachusetts Congressman Jim McGovern is calling for the release of a Columbia University student and Palestinian activist recently arrested by immigration officers.
McGovern and 13 other House Democrats sent a letter to the Trump Administration demanding that Mahmoud Khalil be released from custody.
Khalil was taken into custody by ICE agents over the weekend who told him his student visa was being revoked.
The letter called Khalil's arrest "an attempt to criminalize political protest."
