East Baton Rouge Mayor-President Sid Edwards is proposing a new plan to rededicate part of the library tax to the city-parish's general fund.
An earlier plan that would have cut library funding to pay for a number of other items met with pushback at a series of town halls.
If voters approve of the plan, parish libraries will get $48 million a year to operate. More than $52 million from the library fund balance will be paid toward city-parish debt.
