(Iowa) -- A new study finds that Iowa is among the top ten states least dependent on the federal government.
The new national study by WalletHub looked at all 50 states across three key metrics: return on residents' taxes paid to the federal government, number of statewide federal jobs, and federal funding as a share of state revenue. The study ranked Iowa at 41st in the nation, meaning Iowa is the 9th least federally dependent states in the country.
WalletHub ranked Alaska as the most federally dependent state in the the country. At the bottom of the list as the least federally dependent state is California.
